Catholic Schools' Week  1/30

Classwork

  What an exciting day we had today!  We began our day with a beautiful concert presented by Eric Genius.  Not only did he and his fellow musicians share their amazing musical talents with us, he shared with the gift of his faith.  The PLC was filled with presence of the Holy Spirit in both the music and his words. 

 We were very grateful to Mr. Farias and Dr. Velez for sharing their careers with us.  We would like to thanks Mr. Farias visiting us today and teaching us all about software engineering.  We loved learning from Sam and Emma, not only about your career, but also your love for God and your faith.  We really enjoyed watching Wolfie answering questions.  We would also like to thank Dr. Velez for teaching us to be stroke heroes!  We will always remember to BEFAST  - balance, eyes, face, arms, speech, and time!  May God continue to bless you both!

  We ended our career day with a presentation from Father Martin.  We enjoyed learning about his vocation and his journey to priesthood.

Religion - Today we gathered as a school community and participated in a beautiful prayer service.

Reading - Workbook page 42 and 43.  Define words in your copybook using context clues.  Write 1 synonym and 1 antonym.  Answer the questions on page 42 and 43

 Catholic School's Week - Tuesday, January 28th

   Today we had a day celebrating our students!  We began the day we an amazing talent show!  We are so proud of Briar, Sierra, Victoria, and Bonnie!  You all did such an amazing job!  We ended our day watching Shiloh discussing the similarities and differences between the novel and movie.

ELA - Today we wrote Valentine's Cards for those who are living in nursing homes and Senior Living Communities sharing our love and faith with them.  

Math - practiced finding the estimated quotient.

Science - Reviewed galaxies.  Watch video.

Reading - Complete workbook page 34 and 35. 

Today we took notes on biography.  We then read and discussed the "Nelson Mandela, Working for Freedom"  The children then answered the question :"How do you know Nelson Mandela, Working for Freedom" is a biography.  Use 2 items from your notes, and support it with evidence from the story.

5th Grade - Galaxies- How do we know our solar system is located in a galaxy?  We read, discussed, and highlighted key details.  Take notes in your copybook.  Define solar system on your vocabulary page.

Social Studies - Read and highlight page 86 East and West Florida.  Define territory.  Create a 3 tiered chart to compare and contrast East and West Florida.  Com# 2 on page 86

Happy New Year and welcome back to school!  I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas vacation! :)  We are very excited to welcome Dr. Cardenas to our Fourth Grade Family as our new assistant.

Science - Describing Motion- Engage.  KWL Chart for Motion.  Write 2 things you want to learn about motion.  Read and discuss How Would You Describe Your Motion on a Roller Coaster.  Watch the Six Flags Roller Coaster video. Write 2 things you learned.  Head a second page for Vocabulary . Define motion and speed.  Watch the videos and animation in the vocabulary words. Add to Learned section

Social Studies- Complete page 74.  Read and discuss page 75-77.  HIghlight key details about Anna Kingsley and Florida history.
